20,000 years ago at the end of the ice age, Keda (Kodi Smit-McPhee) failed to do his first hunt with his tribal group, which caused him to fall from a cliff and get injured. He who was considered dead had been abandoned by his group, and had to survive alone in the desert. Keda then tried to tame a wolf that was left from his flock. The two of them became interdependent couples facing various dangers and obstacles until they found their way home before a deadly winter arrived.
